im currently working on my van getting it ready for fresh paint :D but the thing is i haven't done it before so i need some guidence i think. ive got everything as straight as possible and im rubbing it back in stages of 180 240 400 and 600, is this right, and then primer? im using celly and have 5 litres of celly primer. i havent used a compressor/gun before, its all new to me so any help there would be good. then when its primered do i have to leave it for a certain time before i can rub that back and what grade is best. then for paint ive been told to give the van lots of light coats and it takes weeks to cure, is that right? any help on this would be good as i want to try and get it right first time, and dont really know whats best. cheers mIKe

nice tutorial, i think we should make it sticky or move it to the FAQ section as theres some good advice there. 8)

I also recommend a book called 'How to Paint Your Car on a Budget' which is always advertised in the back of Volksworld and UtraVW. Good book although from an american perspective it still has some excellent tricks and tips and good descriptive illustrations. Got mine for a tenner from amazon.

Another way to go with references to UK and other sites and pics of paint jobs.
