Recently imported a 1972 Bay window Westy from the U.S....Drove it back from Kent to Wales no probs.Haven't driven it since only 20 miles to have the lights sorted and 20 miles back.Driving back from having the lights fixed it cut out(bumped started) and it seemed to be running strange...or stranger than when I'd taken it in (?)Anyway got it home and had the battery off to charge it put it back on to start it.It started after about ten turns but still cut out, also as if there was no resistance when pressing the accelerator. So checking in the engine bay and a strong smell of petrol, took the dipstick out (don't know why) to check that....the level was a thumb over the required limit and smelled of petrol. So drained the oil out but I would suggest more petrol than oil....also took the air filter out and that was deep in petrol...somebody please help ...can anybody explain what's happened ?????Feeling P****d off...

Hiya mole,

Very well could be the fuel pump as Loxy suggests.

But also do check the float level in the carby.

With petrol in the oil it you would best advised not to drive your Bus until you get the situation remedied.
