Glad you are tackling the little niggles that I never got round to sorting - the plan before I sold it was to do what you are doing and go through each one so it could be put through the MOT.
You will soon have a nice van to holiday in :)

So the coild decided to pack up. So I looked online. Replacement Bosch was crazy money so I looked at the Electronic ignition as a matter of course to see what I would need if I was to replace and upgrade/downgrade. Of course the purist in me says stick sith points and plugs. So I found a setup for Dizzy, leads, coil and cap for a remarkable £150. So that's now the new setup. It's in and pulls far better than the 009. If it goes tits up then I have the 009 I will carry although for the price I may as well just purchase the electronic module that sits in the dizzy. Less space and one screw fit. Anyway. She runs sweater than she was. Although check the next post out for what I found whilst installing the Dizzy on Lizzi. She looks even happier in the snow331067617_766646161692745_648147377490039234_n.jpg

Replacement or repair. Well as my previous post kinda went against the grain I hope this will keep me in the good books. So whilst I was finding TDC with the Crank pully I could hear a sucking from the carb, specifically where the throttle bush is. I had a little weep of petrol there which I was keeping an eye on. But now I could hear the sound of it it wasn't good. Along with me installing the new Dizzy and electronic ignition I thought replace or repair. The carb itself seems in good order but it isn't Solex and Solex is the preferred stock for me. So I asked a specialist about replacing the Throttle weep. It was the throttle bush that was the problem and because it was a non branded carb the bush could be tricky to get for a decent fit. This was kinda music to my ears as I like Solex. So the hunt for a Carb was on. I got this little beauty in the post this morning. She is a 34 Pict 3 refurb with a slight improvement. I had read somewhere that the jets could be a little bigger with running a bus. So the carb master has put a 60 idle and a 130 main which is a little step up from the 55 idle 125 main most have. Big thanks to Jon for the advice. I don't know what difference this will make as it's arrived on a snow day and I would prefer to fit it in the dry. But she looks just fine and I am hoping she will be a little smoother when idling.331474546_949016293187947_675543167053385264_n.jpg

Forget to mention that I have installed a Hot/Hard start relay as the poor girl is nearly 50.

Strange about the carb as I purchased a proper 34 pict 3 so can only assume it was changed between me selling and you buying?

It looked new but was definitely weeping. But as it was unbranded and I wanted to get back to Stock it was the only way(Solex).

Definitely didnt touch the carb, as it ran well on the carb you fitted Andy

Long time no post. Work and life getting in the way. Seats are in for a retrim and the trimmer wanted me to check before he continues. I think I am going to be happy with the final result. She will be getting all seatsback to framework and re padding and finishing. Proper order.

Apologies, Life got in the way. I have been doing a few bits including Electronic Ignition, Fuel Lines, rear seat belt points added, purchased a new whole front from Busfest. Just need a competent VW Welder to get that on. But it's a big job as everything needs to keep it's alignment. Fixed the fuel sender. I am also toying with replacint the loom whilst the front is off. I did manage to take her to Busfest which was the first family trip which was great although the heat from that day debonded the conopy glue. So I rebonded and attached all the ribs that came with the veichle and she now looks great. Now the weather is getting better and the nights due to be longer I will be back out with her.

Great news to hear of the plans and looking forward to seeing the updates (y)
