1970 VW Devon Caravette Type 2 Bay window campervan.

Sent from the VW factory as a Deluxe Microbus direct to JP White in Sidmouth ( laterly Devon Conversions Ltd ) who converted it into their Caravette model.

Its been stored and off the road since 2006.

Recently sympathetically restored and resprayed in the original body colour.

In the most part this is pretty much as it left the Sidmouth works, retaining it original rear interior furniture, cushions and cards, which for the most part are complete and in exceptional condition for its year.

The furniture had, at sometime in its past, been varnished, this had yellowed so was all removed and the furniture treated with Danish oil and a oil and wax top coat.
Where possible I have endeavoured to keep some of its patina and hopefully some of its character

It still has its 40hp1600 single port engine, and its drum brakes all round, which do make for leisurely driving.

There are a few jobs, and some detailling to do if you want it to be perfect, but I never intended it to be a show winner, just a good solid useable bus.
And its complete, starts, stops ( with a hefty push on the pedal!! ) and runs beautifully.
There is substantial VW service history dating from new upto 1985 with all the punch cards and stamps.

One key for the front and sliding door, sadly a modern repro for the boot and I seem unable to lock the engine lid.
Though I will look at this.
The underside has been undersealed, its had 4 new tyres, the engine has been overhauled inc new barrels/pitons/push rod tubes and associated seals and gaskets.

Sailed through its MOT with only one advisory regarding the number plate.

This is not your usual 20 owner bus, but one that has seen few owners and as such has not be meddled with and molested with patches here and there, dodgy wiring and countless add ons.

I do have pictures of its during its restoration.
No curtains are fitted at present, but I do have a set of custom made ones to go in, with gliders, hooks and the orignal tracks which are still attached to the van.

There is a split charge relay in the engine bay, but no leisure battery fitted, and in a minor nod to modernisation there is a small LED strip light in the rear.

Please contact me if you wish to come and view or have any questions.

SN16 location.

£21,500 Would consider PX with 1302/03/GT Beetle, Panel van or Single/Double cab ( would need bench seats ) or Variant estate possibly

Got some nice custom curtains to go up on the orginal track, and have been busily replacing the odd rubber/seal here and there.
I will continue to do some detailing and replacement/renewla of bits and bobs as I go.

Price reduced to £19,995 with PX options invited.

Ideally I want a 1970s era car, whether that be a VW, BMW, Volvo, Lancia etc, or a T2, T25 panel van with cash my way.
Happy to negotiate.
Any candidates need to be usable & MOT'd, and not full resto projects

No longer looking for trades as i am having to move unexpectedly and will no longer have room for my Campers.

Price reduced to £18,000.
