Hi,

I am thinking of fitting electronic ignition and getting the camper up to Raceshack for a couple of hours on the rolling road. I have a stock 1800 with a pair of Dellorto DRLA36's fitted. They have never been jetted to suit the bus, only set for the engine when i imported them.

can i expect an improvement in performance and is it worth the money?

cheers

It would be worth getting an expert to jet & tune carbs. It should run smoother & be more responsive.

Weather it's worth the money or not is a hard one. If they fix a fault or prevent future problems, then it might be well spent.

Is the place recommended by "easy" closer to you? check his thread........

f**k me! earlybay strikes again.

thanks mate, yes they are closer and sound more my cup of tea -

this is what I like about this forum.

your van will be like a different bus when you get your carbs jetted, balanced and set up. but fingers crossed that you havent damaged your engine by running it not set up. i took my old beetle to have it rolling roaded, confident that the bloke would be astonished by my engine building skills. sadly i had ran it in with the carbs too lean and burnt the odd valve causing low comp on one piston  i was gutted.

If you need any help with them mate, let me know. They Sponsor our club and have set up loads of new carbs etc. Speak to the man Jason and mention that ez sent you and he will take care of you

'Easy'
Is this worth doing for a standard engine set up?
I've just acquired my next early bay ( a 71 South African westy) and was probably just going to pop it along to my local guys at Vanshack (Oxfordshire) for service and switch over to electronic ignition - but thinking would this be a better start? and its certainly no hardship popping down the A38
Thanks
David

Hello mate,

I would say that it is personally because i know Interpro and know the quality of their work. I do not know the other guys but they maybe just as good.

You will get back a van that runs the best it can with what you have, so that cant be bad in my book and worth a few quid for trouble free motoring  give them a call for a rough idea of prices etc. 8)
