I have just been quote 210 -250 + vat to install a pertronix ignitor II, balance the carbs and put it on the rolling road.

My god that is a lot of money. maybv i should invest in a timing gun and do the dizzy myself, only thing i will need to know how to work the blasted thing

cheers

To be honest thats about the going rate if you go near a rolling road.

IMO its well worth the money as the carbs will run like a dream when they have been done correctly on a rolling road.

The old rolling road usually cost about £65 an hour for the first 2 hours then its about £50 an hour after that. I know that Race shack cost more than that, so it depends where you go. Its always worth making sure they have worked on VWs before or are specialised in this area.

Me and the guys at The Old Volks Club in Bristol always use Interpro in Thornbury as one of the guys there has a VW camper and he really knows his stuff with there engines, so we would reccomend them highly.

Remember you only really need to set em up once and then just get em tuned every year or couple of years. We like to get the carbs done once a year as you always know that your carbs are running correctly and not rich etc. 8) :D

yep will be on my way to interpro to get my engine set up as soon as its rebuilt.

gutter that it will be about £250 to set up then after 1000 miles run in i will have do do it all again

think it will be worth it though.
:D :D

Dont forget though the cost wont be as much when you go back as its only a tune and should take no more than 1 - 2hours on the road so only about £130 squids :D

ah wot,
so i have to pt her on rolling road, then drive a while then put her back on

jeez, i am gonna buy one of these dyno's sounds like some serious money to be made there

Ive only got to do it twice as im builing a new engine.

if your engine is run it you will only have to do it the once. :D

Garages are super handy! trouble with mine is that I live about 12 miles away from it

can only just get the bus in ours

glad we have not not decorated as i dont think building the engine in the spare bedrooms would of happened otherwise

task will be getting back downstairs as it was a struggle with two carring it up.
might have to think this out a bit more
