Here's what I just pulled out of it:

It is a rubbery, whitish substance. Was in one piece, I reckon, but broke when pulling it out.

What the feck?!

All back together. Still running poorly!
I don't get it... It ran like a dream yesterday night and like a sack of **** the next morning!

Quick pic from the test drive earlier.

That's my dad in front in his Minor 1000. We fitted the electronic ignition unit that I bought him for his birthday early this morning so took a run out together :D

Good to see it's running again shame about your running issues good luck for getting it sorted :D

Managed to find a little time on Saturday to spend on the bus.
It's been far, far too long since I had any free time to play!

Removed both carbs and checked that everything was
a) freely moving
b) "airways" were clear (basically blew through everything I could with WD40)
Everything seemed fine, so they were refitted.

Put in my new linkage (CSP bellcrank - it's a really lovely piece of kit, and looks to work nicely!) 8) and new, Bosch HT leads.

Once reconnected, set up and primed, she started up nicely.
Sounded a lot "throatier" and generally smoother.

I still have to correctly set the timing on advance and fit a new accelerator cable before I can take it out for a run.

Quiet optimism is probably the best description of how things seem :msn4:

Plans for the bank holiday:
  • Replace accelerator cable
  • Fit new pedal return spring
  • Balance carbs (I gots me an air flow meter!)
  • Reset timing
  • Test drive!
  • Pop replacement tailgate on for a test fit and fettle
    • If it is all good, quick paint touch up and fit!
  • Handbrake adjustment (following the discussions on the recent Berg shifter thread)
  • Front indicator swap (cracked lens)
  • Sliding door adjustment
  • Wash it
  • Sort out under-bed storage space properly
  • Speaker wiring
  • Re-glue the lower edge of the cab door rubber
  • Stick a sound deadening sheet in the cab doors and make a plastic liner
Obviously the further down the list, the less likely it is to get done :msn4:

Very organised - i'm going for the just get started and see what happens approach.

Good to have a nice plan of action my man !!

this may help if you have not seen it before

If I don't have a plan, how will I ever know how much I underachieved? ;)

Friday was a wash out so after putting a shift in looking after my wee cousins I managed about 6 hours on the bus.

Got as far down the list as test fitting the tailgate before getting called in for dinner.

Needs more fettling than I would have liked, but it will do a better job than the existing one!

As for the rest of the work. Engine set up real nice :D

Sadly the sticky throttle cut the test drive short, but I have found the source of the problem so should have a remedy sorted soon!

Happy Easter everyone!

Drives like a beaaaaaaaast! :D :D :D

So unbelievably chuffed right now!

Excellent News...!!! :D :D :party0003:

315 trouble free miles clocked up over the weekend to and from Stanford Hall :D

Cruises very happily at 55mph on the sat-nav with a fair chunk left under the pedal for overtaking (what a novelty!) and hill-climbing. I am a very happy bus owner right now!

We took a detour on the way down to the Midland Early Bay open day to see how Graham was getting on with his new panel project and to check out the new digs and join in the cruise to the show from there - very fun :D

Sadly I really didn't take many pictures at all over the weekend. In fact, most of these are all from the journey home! Hopefully Graham's lad got some good shots on the cruise whilst hanging out the Golf!

The Mrs wanted a pancake before heading up to the line-up:

Nice stop about half way home. I love chilling out in the van and having a bite there, rather than spending a tenner on a sh*tty burger!

In the corner of the picture above you might just be able to spy the thing that pulled up alongside... I don't know what it is, I just know that I liked it!

And then back home, safe and sound (albeit a bit knackered!)

Oh, I also treated the van to one of these from BusOK!

Daily wouldn't start this morning, suspect that it's the battery. Couldn't find jump leads so had to use the bus.

Weird to think that my van is now more reliable than my car!

Van has definitely been earning its keep as of late. Helped with lots of furniture moving, drop offs and collection :D

In other news, been in my new job for a month now. Loving the change!

Van has been showing up the daily again! New battery on the Mazda should now have sorted that out.

I am properly loving using the bus as often as possible now!

Annoyingly I think the exhaust is leaking a bit but that will probably have to wait until after the dreaded MOT when funds allow.

Test fit my other wheels this afternoon to check that the 14" rim will clear the balljoints and calipers and whatnot... I think they look pretty sweet!

Unfortunately I don't think the offset is right for my set up

Not sure what to do now!
