Just been trying to remove the spark plugs negotiating around my twin carbs.  To remove the plugs, I have to remove the breather tubes into the carbs (well I think that is what they are called. I have just undone the jubelle clip and pulled the rubber pipe of the carbs which fits onto a metal pipe. This metal pipe screws into the metal casing of the carb itself. As I have started to unscrew this metal tube, I notice there is some sort of tape/sealant applied to the thread of the screw, a bit like plumbers tape used to seal water pipe connections. Before I take the whole thing off, does anyone now what this is and if I need to reapply some again when I put it back? I assume it is to stop any air leaks, just not sure what it is or where I would get it from once I take it apart.

Many Thanks

Nope, same stuff. I have used it on fuel connections, breather connections, gas pipes, water pipes, all sorts. Just don't go mad with it, just a couple of wraps are usually enough.
