Had a problem starting Sydney at the end of a great weekend at Big Bang yesterday due to the points sticking (many thanks to the helpful guy in the light blue bay from Wiltshire I think). After getting him started, we stopped off at the Cool Air tent on the way out to buy a Petronix electronic ignition.

I've read the instructions but not having ever set the timing, a little nervous about how to check or adjust the timing after fitting them. I have a Type 4 1700cc engine with 009 distributor and borrowed a strobe light.

Please could someone give me a step by step guide (also known as an idiots guide) to checking and adjusting the timing afterwards.

Many thanks

I have absolutely know idea but here's a man who does :)

at least it sounds like he does  from the detail on his website.

If you can fit the petronix in-situ (with out removing the dizzy) then you dont have to reset the timing (its best to though if you have access to a timing light)
