Hi all! Been here once before, couldn't find my old login info. though.... So here I am again! Hate to just jump in with a question before introductions and whatnot, but im in a pinch here. I'm in the U.S. and got interest from a guy over there that wants to buy my 68 riviera/asi Roadrunner. Not sure if it's a scam or not as he has told me that I needed to contact a shipping company over there and pay them up front... I've never even sent a letter overseas, let alone a car!! Does anyone have any advice or someplace for me to do some trusted research??? I've got some good leads from the samba, but I wanna hear this side o the world's opinions and advice! I was thinking if he sent me a deposit of half, it wouldn't feel so wrong, but i dunno. Any experienced buyers out there that can put me under the proverbial wing??

ive paid for all the buses ive bought from the USA in full before they are shipped, the shipper charges me for shipping once it arrives, before i collect it. Thats also when i have to pay any duty/taxes due

from what u said, are u paying the shipping for the buyer????

feel free to pm me, or let me know and i will pm u my number for a chat if i can help dude

He wants to add the shipping costs to the price of the bus, and estimated them at around $3000, the explanation was that busses are worth so much more where he's at, that it'd still be cheaper for him to buy mine. I'd have to pay to get it there, keep the title, than send the title when his check clears. It's a rare bus, and one of my favorites, so i'd hate to lose her and always think that she got hacked up somewhere instead of restored. Thanks for the info. in advance.

Be careful with this one , the shipping company won't accept the bus without the title , so you won't have it after you drop the bus at the shippers , like Slammresto mentioned before , unless the bus is paid in full you don't release the bus , because once is gone , is really gone.
Get your money upfront for the bus , you can then offer to drop it at the shippers , the buyer can then pay the shipping fees in the UK once he picks up the bus.
As a seller you can also add the shipping fees to the cost of the bus once you get a quote from the shipping company.
Try calling CFR on the US side or Kingstown Shipping on the UK side , they work together and should make the whole process easy for you.
I have shipped a few buses from Los Angeles to the UK and is really not a big deal you just got to call the right people.

100% agree with the last two comments. I have paid for shipping and the cost of the Bus up front before it's even left the States and then Duty and VAT on arrival. It's common practice and expected in the UK that if you want it you have to pay for it up front. I would never release before I had cleared funds.

It's the buyers risk and their responsibility to make sure they are buying what they think from some-one they can trust, which is why trusted dealers work so well in many cases.

GLWTS ;)

hi i agree with the others i shipped mine myself and i payed the guy for the bus then organised transport to the dock myself which i payed seperatly and then pay kingstown shipping in hull seperatly ps they are the cheapest shipping i found yours sounds dodgye to me

Yah buddy! The further I dig into this whole thing, the messier it sounds!
Ya try an help a guy out.... :?: Ahh well, I haven't recieved another email from him since I told him I was asking for advice on the EarlyBay forum!!! I think the clincher is that he says "Ipswick" is the "preferred port of entry" ....Twice. Really trying to give the benefit of doubt in his favor, I'd love to see my baby remain whole to a nice loving restorer, n thats what he says he wants, but he's sounding more and more shady the more I hear and look!! Thanks again guys for all your input!
