Side step

Hi, just wondering before I order one whether anyone has any recommendations re a side step, jk or bluebird or ???

Any tips or stay aways appreciated

Yer, gotta say bluebird, got 2 of theres on my twindoor, which i use allyear round so they`ve had 6yrs of use n still look like new. :mrgreen:

Think i got mine from C&C (possibly status) at a show, 1 of the best things i ever bought. The daughter can happily climb in and out whenever she wants now.

Remember that if your lowered you will ground out the step on un even ground. If your slammed you wont be needing one

Hmmm, how low do you need to be before it becomes a big issue?

I gather from your reply your bus is lowered. If so do you need the step for kids etc getting in or do you just want it for looks. I guess it depends on how steep your drive is, how big the speed humps are around your place or how steep the campsite/beach car park is.
I was going to get one but the thought of ripping it out and damaging the underside/jacking points on my bus put me off in the end.
Maybe look to see how low one will be on you ride and take it from there. Dont spend/waste your money yet mate, you might regret it. Measure twice fit once.

Thanks Clyde. I've not picked my bus up yet, but yes it is lowered. Always loved the look of the side step hence the question.

Could someone give me an idea of what the depth/height of the step, as none of the sites seem to have dimensions?

Not got any measurements but here is a picture of mine fitted, my bus is lowered about 3.5" at the front and 1 spline at the rear with standard 185/14 commercial tyres

wot clyde says is defo worth taking into account... theyre not great on a very lowered bus
ive got one and i love they way it looks.... yet the front of it is only 2 inches off the tarmac.... completely pointless!!! :lol:
but speed bumps arent a problem as the step goes up as the wheels do....
its them little narrow buggers that when the wheel drops back down the other side it gets trapped in the space between the wheel and the step....!!!!! thats when you hear the grinding sound!!!!

also hitting a curb and ripping the jacking points is a worry.... but i jus take everything wide!!!! mine is wedged in and not bolted so if i get stuck i can whip it off quickly....

....thats a funny one that.... i spotted it on ebay.com one night with a couple of hours left to run so i put a stupidly low bid in and went to bed.... didnt think i would win it....woke up the next morning...and I basically got it for 90 quid incl shipping to the uk!!!!! feckin bargain of the century!!


usually go for between 250-350 depending on condition
