I've just done an alternator conversion and I've noticed that I'm wetting a squeak on start up which I'm guessing is a slipping fan belt. Prior to this I had a similar issue on the dynamo but was down to a rubbish dynamo pulley wheel. I'm wondering if I change to the rib belt whether this will help? Anyone got anyexperience if this?

For engines with a dynamo the belt should be 9.5 x 900.

For engines with an Alternator fitted a bigger belt should be used, one that is 11.3 x 912

I have a feeling I may be using a 904 as the big one was too big. Uuuuumm maybe I should try fitting the big one!

Companies like machine 7 reckon if your running a larger fan (such as TP1600) but with a dynamo to run the larger belt due to the extra stress on the belt.

This is of course up to discussion

Right, sorted, 912 wasn't working for me as i had the narrow one. Just fitted the 11.3 and am sorted. It's all about the width!!!! Cheers
