spark at the bottom of the rotor

Put a clear cap onto to show my daughter the sparks felt as if it was missing and i can see a spark at the bottom of the rotor arm any ideas.Frankie.

:idea: is distributor / rotor arm spotlessly clean? I work in electrical industry and electricity can track / arc across dirt and grease.

bottom of rotor arm to where?

usually its contamination people greasing the rotor and the felt cam dirt moisture etc...

especially if the contactors to the cap / rotor arm arent 100%

not sure were it arcing to can just see it close to rotor arm base I,l give it a clean and see how it goes cheers lads.

Are you sure it isn't just the small spark between the points contacts when they open and close?

A small, visible spark here is normal.
