Fitted a new speedo cable to the Boose yesterday, took it out today and it said I was doing 70 when I wasn't doing more than 30 :-S

Any ideas? Was always reasonably accurate before it broke :-/

We're only mucking about because what you have described is impossible due to changing the cable. Either it was already broken, or you have somehow damaged it changing the cable - can't see how you could have done that though.

Sorry not to have a +ve answer. :)

That's ok. Hmmm bummer, it's ok till I get to 30ish then just goes mad.

Does the cable sound ok? I was wondering if a bend was too tight somewhere it could snag and become erratic - all you've done is change the cable so that's likely the culpret? What made you change the cable?

Don't go over 30 then, it'll save you spending on that big engine.....

All the bends are ok, none if them are that sharp and I changed it because the old 1 snapped.

My speedo always has run about 10-15 mph faster than the actual speed (I thought I was going a bit slow and borrowed a mates sat nav which measured the speed).

I'm really not sure what would cause this but I just like to think that the bus is being optimistic

my speedo is 100% accurate all the time

when its parked that is

had the van ovwer 85 on the clock though but sat nav say its not true 68mph .

What wheels and tyres have you got on the front?

No, but the size will.

Stock 185/14/C have a rolling circumference of 1965mm, compare this to a 185/60/14 for example, which has a rolling circumference of 1742mm.
The difference means that when your speedo indicates 70mph you're only doing 62mph.

I found the cheapest way to increase your engines power is to fit VW Heritage Brm's 185/65/15 the speedo now reads 90 mph  ,when in fact I think it's more like 40 mph.
