cab floor done and side panels welded in,decided to fit new front crossmember and redo chassis repair on drivers side around where crossmember fits . Thats this Sundays job (stuck at work at the moment waiting on the clock) some bits to finish weld as ran out of gas when fitting rear crossmember .Trial fitted o/s load floor and needs a bit of trimming around B post ,had to wing it as original rusted away and plated over and the repair section may be a bit off. No bother though as it wont show!!!! and had to trim around C post as a LHD panel was used and sliding door pillar is larger.must take some photos .

Busy on as they say round yur. ( Worcs/Hereford border dialect) N/S sill and door channel fitted, N/S front arch . Waiting for Bpost and seat belt repair panels. front crossmember and heater tube fitted. floor pan cut to fit, just need to drill 200 holes in it to plug weld in place ( putting that off) photos for your pleasure chaps and gals.

Amazing work, keep us updated. :party0021:

I know the frustrations of a '68 well... :party0021:

don't help that it was poorly repaired and chassis twisted , only have a spirit level and ruler to check as work shop floor is uneven. Hope the cab doors fit as no help to lift them on & off and side door . Was so badly welded up that there was no measurements worth taking.

Should be fine will get help when the time comes to refit doors, one has been reskined and both have a skim if filler all over . hope fully can reduce this now B posts are correct . was 3 or more mm of filler on B posts for no reason. Thanks for the offer of help, will be ages yet as still have front panel, beam and rack conversion to do and then n/s rear arch and upper panel and thats after load floor and panel between arches and finish welding rear out rigggers and-----------

Not managed to do any work on the panel with one thing and another, Christmas, weather, illness and life all getting in the way. Hope to do some this Sunday and finish the rear of n?s front arch and make a start on load bed floor, that's about 400 holes to drill and plug weld

Started to fit steering rack conversion, my own using a polo rack and 90 deg Renault master van steering unit. slot in chassis below steering box hole ,its tight to clear clutch pedal but have got it to fit and line up with column so will keep flex coupling and horn push. have a offcut of CDS tube to weld into chassis in a D shape open at bottom and then box in above, it will pass through and have a plate/box section welded to it to mount rack on. Found the old front inner panel wasn't welded to the kick panel and the new Scofield's one has the holes for bumper mounts 1/2 a hole out (probably a 68 thing!!) cant get to grind of the top bit of the brackets on ends of chassis without removing floor but the new one slides over. On hols this week and get to do 4 days work on bus , will take photos tomorrow of progress but its fabrication day to make mounting plates/brackets.

that's what had to be notched to clear 90DEG box and that's the mounting bracket. made column to box connection from old VW top part and cut uj out of lower Renault coupling , with a slight shave the vw part sits inside the lower part making a strong joint . welded it together and its perfectly aligned , did put a sleeve through to keep it in shape but it still could have gone out . mounting bracket welded on and column connected , next job is make shaft from 90DEG box to rack, cut the splined section of Renault shaft and with a clean out of the spline left the polo shaft will slide inside making another good joint. After that its the rack mounting to make.

boxed the chassis and made mounting blocks for rack, next job tomorrow is weld in inner front panel so there is something to mount the box section to for steering rack. The rear of this box section will sit on the lip of the under seat cross panel (for want of a better description)

Nearly finished the rack conversion, just need to order a rose joint and mod the drag link.

Had to cut of the lip from top of inner sill as when floor sat in place it was holding it up from the support sections by 3mm. Guessed it was to tall as outer sill sat at correct height(and this is a "best fit" part!!!) welded it back on and now floor sits down correctly. Welded in place now and started to fit between rear arch panel, that's wrong as well . to wide and top angle incorrect , cut top return off and it sits on top of old lip . Gas bottle reads empty and cant get a new one till next week day off in 2 weeks

Steady progress, as usual not had enough spare time. Front panel 3 sections fitted, had to make indicator housing (yes you can buy one but where's the fun in that). Took front beam off this morning and chassis is ok underneath , just had to grind some surface rust off with a flap disc. Gave up at 1 o'clock as way to hot and ran out of drink!!! On hols from 16th so need to go to Graham L and get some drop spindles or it wont come out of unit at stock height . Need to go round all the welds and check nothing has been missed , found a few missed spots and holes already and of course there is a lot of welds to grind down.

On hols this week so hope to get a few days in , been trying to get hold of Graham MEBay but no joy as need some drop spindles or the bus wont come out the unit!!!!!Cleaned and painted the new stock front beam and hope to fit it if I can get a hand (done a muscle in my back) and bolt up steering rack. Going to swap spare wheel well to rh side so r & r bed fits and still have room for spare. Need to spend a day grinding welds and checking not missed any welds.
