Starter motor

Just bought a new starter motor from gsf and fitted it today but come to start it it won't turn over unless u turn the key off and on off and on a few times then it turns over is it a faulty starter motor or am I bein stupid???

Problem's more likely a dodgy connection in the ignition. I replaced a starter and had the same problem, worn ignition barrel.

is the bush ok in the bell housing for the starter shaft ?will cause grief if its worn ,also check terminal from ign switch on starter ,red and black wire.
