Trying to get my head around this one - not long had the bus so am in the process of getting some bits sorted over winter, and one of those is how it's been lowered. Currently, it's on beam adjusters (yet to have a look and see whether it is one or two that have been fitted) and standard spindles. From mine and the other half's point of view - it is not not liveable with!! Waaaaay too much bounce, possibly because the ball joints are at the limit of their travel... :|
Anyway, some dropped spindles and adjustable rear arms are due to be ordered and fitted soonish, but I need to check out this adjustable beam stuff first.
So, when fitting adjusters, I understand that the steering idler pin is cut off in order to drill out the dimples that hold the leaves in place. At first I thought that the pin was fitted to some sort of adjuster so that it could be rotated with the beam adjusters, and keep it at the same level as per stock, however, I now understand that this isn't the case and that it just gets welded back in stock position.
Now my question is, how is that pin affected when the adjusters are set to the limits of their travel (depending on where they were welded in the first place)? Does it not put it at some funny angles, and does this not affect the steering mechanism as a whole? From the brief look at mine, one of the adjusters (possibly the only one) is set as low as it'll go, so with the flipped spndles, I'm going to have to raise it back up close to stock beam height and just want to make sure that this isn't going to cause any problems. :?
