T2D one day lowering, pics/alternatives

Greetings, ok so I want to lower my 71 Dormobile, currently stock height and it needs to come down a) to fit in a garage b) cos I want it lower!!
Don't want to slam it, I'm thinking one spline at the back and level it at the front?
Cost is an issue, from what I have worked out T2D is £500 plus shocks £85 plus new tyres, maybe, how much would these be?
The alternative is dropped spindles at £500 a pair plus I would then have to pay for fitting, don't think I need to go down the adjuster route, not sure of the state of mybeam, plus only looking to mildly lower.
Has anyone got any recommendations or pics, especially the one day lowering.

If your not in any rush secondhand drop spindles for around £350 do come up for grabs that's a £150 saving if you're concerned with cost. Ben

Drop spindles and fit them your self. Its quite easy and you will learn at the same time

They did mine, and a mates too, was a few years ago but didn't cost nearly that much, did they quote you that ?

if you go for the t2d flipped type drop spindles then people have found you need coilovers to avoid rubbing so you need to factor in about 200 quid for them and 30 quid for an adjustable tie rod.

I agree with Bay-Low71 & audix. If you can wait, wait for some cheap used drop spindles to show up for sale (there have atleast been three sets on sale in the last 30 odd days on here) and then fit them yourself. Fairly easy task and even if you've not done it yourself in past, i dont see why you cant do it yourself on your own and with help of all these lovely ppl on here.

My 69er was stock height and it was too high to my liking. I was on a budget too but I have plans for slamming so I went the adjustable K/L beam route. For the moment I plan to lower it only at the adjusters until I am done with welding it all up after that I am going to wait for a nice/cheap used drop spindles to pop up to slam it.

For rear, I went with the horseshoe plates. So mildly lowered for 135 quid! not bad, or is it?

I too looked at t2d but,like you,I have a tight budget.and they seemed a bit pricey to me.

I was thinking about getting some adjusters fitted in my stock beam.
Has anyone else done this or is this a bad idea?

I though about t2d. Ended up getting a one spline drop and adjusters fitted at my local specialist (house of dub), for £350.

Quality job, and far cheaper than t2d's non adjustable one day service!

£350 is not a bad price.im thinking I'm gonna go with that.

Thanks for the comments £350 using adjusters sounds a bargain, how does it ride? Have you changed the shocks or tyres?

I think he got the adjusters on offer, so was going to be about 400

Ride is sweet! No change in shocks or tyres (yet)

Even the missus thinks the ride is good, and she is fussy as fu@k!

Oh, and it was for my 30th so super chuffed!

My van was lowered by removing some of the springs when I got it :shock: The plan from day one was to return it to stock, I did this then couldn't get it out of the garage! I fitted some second hand ww spindles (£310 delivered) less of a drop than the transporterhaus spindles so I could keep the new 185r14c tyres on, I lowered the rear one spline and I love the look to be honest. Getting rid of some of the tyre to arch gap improves the look and it is very slightly nose up. To the untrained eye it probably looks stock and I am sure I will get people asking am I going to lower it.

The other option of course is;

My previous two vans (both tintop splittys) were lowered and i must say am now loving the ride of a stock height van again (also a 1971 Dormobile). Which also doesn't fit in my garage now, so i am spending a few hundred quid replacing the lintel above the garagedoor and raising the door up 4-5inches which will then fit a stock height pop top van in.

Dont do it, Stock height vans are way cooler, and getting rare :lol: :lol:

This might help if your not minted , I only wanted mine to fit in the garage but it drives and rides better now and only cost around £350 with a shop doing the work!! They used only one adjuster and the front and one or two splines at back.
I have the other adjuster for sale for £50 if you need one.(in the parts for sale section)

Didn't cost the earth and can still go over speed bumps without causing tailbacks.
