You guys are wheely obsessed............

Tidied up a few interior trim bits today, glued the headliner down as the rubber seal round the hole in the roof (technical term ) was not on there, gonna sort that once the glues dried. And got my tires on the wheels, slow day as baby parties took priority (keep Lisa sweet  )

Very nice choice. I run the deep 5.5 on my wifes beetle. I love circus wheels(oops I mean sprint stars). I can wait to see an altitude adjustment and the new wheels. How does the offset work and will they clear the rear axel nut?

Gary, was gonna ask you, if you're fitting a narrowed beam, will you have a front camber compensator for sale?
MSN me.

Nice one Gary.

Glad to see it here, looks sweet and I hope you keep this one a bit longer. It takes me back 12 Months. Hope to be parked up in the Vanfest line up....pop tops ahoy!

Let me know if you are still interested in the hinge swap, assuming you will be fitting up the Electrics the same as mine.

What tyre combo did you go for in the end?

Jon

Right, some progress, but no pictures im afraid

New beams on after some huffing and puffing, took 3 to get it on.........lol.......bloody heavy

Figured out the rear springplates, also need to fit new rear wheel cylinder, pads etc on the rear, as its a bit leaky

also had a few probs with the brake hose adaptor on the wilwoods, as i ordered the wrong part.....dooh

Come on Gary, you know better than to keep the pictures from us!!!!!!

I bet there was less swearing puting that beam on than when I did mine....

Love the complete set up, looks the dogs!

if i can sort out the brake hose adaptors on the willwoods tommorow, you will have some pics

rear plates and front beam is done, bar the front brakes, rears were truly shocking, falling apart literally

disaster tho........................it needs a battery tray

thats it welding wise

pics tommorow i promise

im a week behind now due to brake hose adaptors, parts all ordered now i hope, aiming to have it back down on the ground and motd by friday

to do b4 mot

new clutch cable
rear brake shoe fitting kit
fit front lights
paint pop top
paint bumpers
fit front brake flexi and hose adaptors, bleed system etc
adjust height to level
order and fit rear shocks

Cant judge rear shock till i get it back down, which due to brake probs mean i havnt been able to dial in the ride height yet
Image034.jpg

not all polished yet, but OG paint is coming up a treat

rear adjustable spring plates fitted

How are you painting the pop? Mine could do with a freshen up.

Looking good Gary, good OG paint always makes me smile. :) Add some shiny new parts I just can't fault it. 8)

If you want to order rear shocks you can jack the back up to where you want it to sit and measure. This is due to the fact you will be dialing your rear to the max anyway, and without notching the rear chassis rails you are limited. You will see what I mean if you lift the rear up and look at your A arms and Drive shaft. There is only a couple of inches of movement (max) when you use the spax adjustables. You will also need to cut two thirds of your bump stops off and will only have 1cm ish of space between bump stop and plate. When you replace the shock with the spax or other lowered shock you will need to remove the lower shock bolt to get the wheels on and off.

As for the front, if you have 2 and a half inch dropped spindles I would set the adjusters to the maximum height and then move 1 to 2 teeth down. This should give you a drop that brings your tyres up into the arches. On mine I have 3 and a half inch spindles and it is set at maximum height.

Hope to see the bus in the flesh soon.

Jon
