I've had an oil temp gauge sitting in the garage for a while and fitting it has come to the top of the list of 'jobs to do'

I was wondering what type of sender units you have fitted, pro's, cons, accuracy, etc.

Should I go for a sump plate sender or a dipstick sender? I would value your thoughts and experiences.

I intend to do the boiling water test in order to calibrate anyway.

Cheers

Dipstick senders are more accurate, but I prefer a sump sender. They're a lot neater, and once you've fitted the gauge you only really need to see it if the engine's running sky high, indicating a big problem- and either one will tell you that.
