I'm not sure whether Hank has the correct bumper fitted for a 1970 US import, the reason I say this is I bought a Towbar from Aaron that is supposed to bolt to the irons but I cannot see anyway that it can do, unless I need to make some extra brackets, so 2 questions:

Does this look like the right bumper for the year?

Or Does the Towbar need some extra brackets to fit?

I think EB bumpers are pretty much the same until 72` . I have a 69 and your bumper looks same as mine , The only problem I can see other than needing more brackets is clearance on the back box if you did manage to fit it :?

As Grazy says bumpers are the same plus that 4 into 1 exhaust system will get in the way. I have the same problem and am going to fit a standardone for the time being. Untill i can save up for a side exit system.
Tow bar should fit ok. Ask Faux on here he has fitted a very similar tow bar to his van recently. Good luck Daz

Hmmm! thats the same as ours, keep us informed how you go as I need to fit also :?

Graham, I'll see I still have the pics of it fitted from the pevious owner as I never got round to fitting it myself, I know he had a 70 bus.....they may still be secreted somewhere on the PC though it was some time ago and I cant even remember if it was before we got the latest laptop....

Thanks for the replies guys, Aaron if you could find pictures that would be great. I'll try and drop Faux a line and see if he has any pics.

this is the early bay pre 72 same irons on this as on mine...are yours the same.....the bumper irons in the Bently manual show them to be slightly different being an american manual I wonder whether there was a difference....
Mines a cali 71 and has the same hangers....

Aaron

Thanks thats really useful, what bothers me is I'm sure my bumper is different to that and the rear hangers don't look anyway near as strong as the ones in the pictures.

Will have another tonight to check :D

Hi Graham.

I think the problem is the brackets, I have a towbar exactly the same but it came with brackets that were different to the original ones.

It should be posible to make some to fit using your original ones.

Give me a call if you want I have PM'd you my number.

Sorry the pics aren't very good, it is hard to get under!

You are welcome to measure up at the next show we are both at.

You can see the two holes where it bolts up to the chassis rail and I should have a bolt on the underside too, but I couldn't bother  , I'm not planning to tow anything at the moment. You can also see the three holes where the towbar joins the irons.

I hope this helps.

Jon

Thanks for the pictures, its very clear that I'm missing the correct bumper irons to go with the towbar itself.

If I can't sort anything out I will take you up on your offer of measuring up at the next show that we are together at,

All the best
