Please can anyone tell me if the gearbox and diff use the same oil or are they separate? Also what grade(s) and capacitiy(s)? I have a diff whine which I suspect is low oil level.

Gearbox and diff share a common oil. Total capacity is 3.5 litres and oil should be SAE 80W/90 gear oil.

It is also the correct grade for the steering gear box too.

Was there a thing about not using synthetic oils in these as they wreck the synchros? I can't remember now something like that.
