Hi guys,

Could someone point me in the direction of possible literature/websites that I could learn about all aspects of the aircooled engine. I have a 1600 and wouldn't mind learning about levels of tuning. For example when do you hit the limits of the standard carb, porting and polishing, etc etc.

There seems to be so many varients from 1700 to 2000. I just would like to read up before I thinking about modifying/changing my engine this winter.

Got this book, also got Tom Wilson how to rebuild your Volkswagen air cooled engine. Which is also a very good book.....

Stretching teh topic slightly, have you seen this?

OK so it's how to build a VW engine for an aircraft, so there are some less relevant stuff (like rounding off corners to avid stress cracks). But it's pretty interesting - if a bit long (even the presenter seems bored with his own voice).

Didn't know the bit about the air gaps in the head castings...

Dammit!!! I will wait until I get back from Cyprus and pop around.. Sorry Darren, I didn't think
Dont worry, it can wait. When you collect your shifter, we can talk engines over a beer or brew...

That does sound good!! Could do with a beer and chinwag!
