Hi I'm supposed to be camping at volksworld , so obviously the van has thrown up a new problem !

So all was well ( as well as it gets with mine) , but today both front callipers are binding, I changed the master cylinder about a month ago as the old one was leaking , had issues getting them bled afterwards ( mainly as i was doing it on my own) but got there in the end and has been fine until today ?

Most likely master cylinder problem ? Pedal is returning fully , nut/adjuster on rod is all the way back to pedal end .

Any thoughts advice pointers in the right direction greatly appreciated

When you say the nut is all the way back to the pedal end, are you sure you've adjusted the MC push rod correctly? There should be a small gap between them so that the MC can retract fully under its own internal springs, and allow the fluid back into the reservoir. If the pedal is preloading the MC, the fluid will be forced into the braking circuit, but will not return, and you'll get the symptoms you're suggesting.

How are the calipers themselves? Are the slider pins moving freely, do the seals / pistons look in good condition? If they are relatively new or refurbished, then it's unlikely that these are at fault, especially if both have suddenly failed at the same time.

Did you use red rubber grease on the caliper piston seals when you reassembled (I had this with my beetle before - total caliper rebuild but reassembled just with brake fluid only which then dried out and they seized on the first press of the brake pedal)

Hi All

Have adjusted the pushrod to MC and all seems well .

Was almost welded together and took some "patience"

Obviously i didn't have it correct before , although seemed fine for a Month !

But sorted now and all is well again

Thank you all , see you at volkswold !
