My bus is a 72 westi caifornian import, obviously I'd like to plug it in when we get where we're going, (mainland europe only)
replacing the us plugs internaly is no problem, but what do i do about the femaile US plug on the outside? is there a direct replacement i can buy to just plug in a standard mains hook up cable?

Cheers

Stu

Hello,

Franks Bus parts has these - posted on another thread:

got the plug and tried it on Saturday - connects into the original US fitting fine and has 3 terminations on it for L, N & Earth so seems to fit the bill

Got them from Franks Bus Parts - nice and quick delivery too and very helpful

Hope that helps,

EDIT:

As it's for 240V I would replace the wiring from the external unit to the sockets also as this is rated for 110V - if you find a replacement unit would be interested to know details e.t.c. but I haven't seen one yet

cool thanks, do you have a picture of the other end? or do you know if uk and continental campsite hook ups have the same connection?

They appear to be different as amazon sell an adapter for UK/EU - that US plug just needs the other end of the shore line to be wired into it - from this link:

I also read that you have to be careful on EU hookups as they sometimes reverse the live/neutral? Believe you can fit a device in line that detects and allows you to reverse the polarity if this happens
