Hi,
I'm after a really good condition early bay petrol tank with a sender and a filler neck. I know it has to be an early one so I would say 67-69. Sorry but it's to go into a 58 split van to increase the size of the tank, it's probably sacrilege to some of you, so I apologise for that now.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Hey,, if you are anywhere near Bristol, I got one a bit later that you can buy, it`s in great shape but it`s from a 1972 rhd. If it`ll work for you, and you can pick it up, you can have it for £30. I`m not about much this week in Bristol but I`m split between here and Brum. Any good to you then give me a tinkle 07723 069 937.

Fitted a '72 tank into my split...'71's definitely don't fit, didn't think earlier ones did either but not 100%

Hi,
What year was the split?

Cheers

1964 :)

This is a 1971 tank, bulge at the bottom...

...this is a 1972 tank, no bugle at the bottom as VW needed to clear the new gearbox hanger that was introduced from 72...

Just looked in the VW parts catalogue for part numbers, and the panel that the tank sits on never changed after the change in '55
