hi all some more advice needed. After using my mig welder today and replacing the wire it now keeps cutting out a warning lamp comes on I take this to be an overheat warning because after a short while it works ok again but soon the penetration of the weld gets less and it stops and this light comes on. Is the overheat on the coil side of the welder or is the wire feed motor overheating? im not sue if the change of wire has anything to do with it because it was working great for an hour with the new wire. Any guidance much appreciated!

Have you changed the wire guage?

.. if its higher guage it draws more current to arc, therefore you duty cycle ( the length of time the welder can run without overheating. usually expressed as a percentage .. )

The light will be the safety to let the welder cool .. i doubt its your wire feed ..

hope that helps ..
