Hi Everyone,

Me and my mates have booked a trip to Europe for 26th June. I still have to sort out my engines bad MPG and a full interior/upholstery by that date. But anyways the initial plan was to go to Amsterdam and then head onto Hamburg then Berlin but I'm now starting to think that's asking a bit much from the bus and it means a lot of our time will be spent driving.

Currently what I have planned is Dublin -> Holyhead -> Dover - > Calais -> Antwerp -> Amsterdam but after that I'm not sure, I'm starting to think make my way down west Germany maybe as far as Frankfurt and then go across into Belgium and make my way up to Bruges for the last night.

Has anyone done a similar route or have any suggestions on good campsites. My mates aren't really outdoors men so I'd like to camp in around a few cities where possible.

I'm away for 11 nights but I'm spending 1 in Antwerp and 2 in Amsterdam so have 8 nights to plan for.

This is the area I'm looking around:

Thanks,

Quite a few of us stayed in Belgium on the coast on the way to Hessisch via BBT ( Antwerp ) id have no hesitation in recommending this campsite @ De Haan http://www.deheide.be/welcome.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; also be sure too take the very cheap tram ride along the coast ,plus take in a visit to The Altlantic Wall Museum its a must if you like that type of thing http://www.northernmemories.co.uk/Atlantik/Atlantik.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you might find this site helpful http://www.belgium.be/en/about_belgium/tourism/the_coast/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Have a safe trip ;)

Koblenz on the Rhine is really nice. Campsite right by the river and a short hop on a boat in to the city centre.
Cologne is awesome but the campsite isnt all that.
The Belgian coast is always good :)
Ghent is really nice and the campsite is one of the best I have ever stayed at.

Not camped in Belgium/Germany yet, but I live 3 miles from the ferry in Holyhead ... so if you want a bite to eat or a cuppa ;)

Anywhere down the Rhine valley is nice, we went back thru Luxemberg to go to Spa. We went to the show at spa but the town is definitely worth a visit lots of sites around there, old town Brussels is worth a look we stayed on a municipal site there and got the bus into the city.
We stayed at a campsite on the outskirts of Amsterdam about a 5 min walk from tram but can't remember it's name, lots of backpackers a younger people there
