Hi i have a 1970 lhd westy and have had the bed and seats re-trimmed. The seats are now thinner and have curved edges [bull nose] when the bed is made up no probs But when it is in the seating position their is a 2"" gap between the base cushion and the back I cannot move the seat and back any closer as this is governed by the unit when in the bed position Has anybody had this problem and did you get over it Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I had exactly the same issue with my Westy rock'n'roll bed. It worked fine (with no gaps) as a bed, but when it was a seat, it had a 2 inch gap and the seat back felt and looked too high.

When viewed from the outside, the top of the seat back, was a few inches above the base of the side window (ie: too high compared to others I'd compared it with). I couldn't figure it out at all. In the end I put up with it... when the time comes to re-fitting them, I'm tempted to sell them and use something else.

Hope you get a more useful reply than this one! :)

Sound's like you both have had them trimmed in the wrong thickness foam, this bed is designed for thick foam, late westy rock & roll bed's have 3" foam early have 5".

i have the same issue and i got the original foam recovered!

all i intend to do is move both base and back about an inch closer and re-screw to the brackets. It will be a snug fit when converting to a bed but i still think it's doable,

I'm going to look at this tomorrow so i will let you know how i get on.

i didn't know that. i've bought a late full width bed to go in my earlybay so i guess i need 3" foam then. is that standard to all late bays? i bought an intrior separately from the bed, it has the seat foam next to the swivel table. is the bed foam the same thickness as that?

Yes the little buddy is the same thickness, on late westy bay's the total thicknes including board, foam & upholstery is 4" on early bay's it is 6"

you shouldn't have any gap's may be the upholstery has been pulled down a little too tight at the back of the seat base & the bottom of the back rest....if you know what I mean  try and release them it will take up some of the gap, if you have the studs move them closer to the edge.

right fitted mine tonight...what a c***

two man job really! like i said i just moved the base back a touch and the back right down onto the mounting bracket so as low as it could go so it was a snug fit. job done and converts to a bed nicely.

the foam is original and i would say with the board is 5-6 inches

hope this helps.
