Hi all,

I've recently been looking around for a replacement sink top for my westy. I've got a SA import SO67R, the original sink top is the white plastic type, not sure if its because of the heat or what but its basically gone discoloured and brittle hence I'm after a new stainless steel one.

The few that I have seen for sale often have more holes in the top, whereas my plastic jobby only has two holes, I'm guessing for filling up and for the tap. Whats the reason for this?

I'm guessing I'll just have to get one with a few holes and bung the others up? Unless there is anywhere that makes new tops?

The third hole in the stainless top is for water tank venting that goes through the van roof.

Fitting a stainless sink top wont be that straight forward if you want it fully functioning. Ive reskimmed mine with plastic filler stuff - still a bit rubbish!

I had the same issue with a previous project and ended up gettin another cooler with a stainless top.
My current project has the same whiteish top all dried up and cracked so I am planning to go with a solid top like my buddy on this splitty , he made that top out of a westy folding table , you loose the water feature but it looks clean.

Oh right,

I thought that changing for a S/S top would just be a straight swap, I still don't really understand why it can't be unless the sizing is compltely different,

guess I'll have to have a rethink on that one then, I do want a functioning sink (even if it will be used for storing keys/phones most of the time!)

Thanks for the replies,

Matt

I have exactly the same issues (also a SO67 1969 SA westy)
Any chance of some interior pics as not entirely sure my interior is original

From the pics Si it looks right to me, apart from the seat behind the drivers seat has either been cut down or replaced for a smaller one.

Think its because mine has been converted to a walkthrough. It mainly the buddy seat that i'm not happy with although i think gadget did say thats its a repro based on (and made with) a westy seat just doesn;t look quite right
