as title really ,im just doing my list of engine parts that i need to order this week from heratage and ive got to the carbs page, bud havent got a clue what to go for,my first instinct was cheepest but thats not always the way forward  ,any help or info would be super smashing greeeat :D

Whats the spec or your engine? Heads, cam etc.

Weber 36's ir ICT's are the obvious choice.

im just buying a heratage top end rebuild kit,and thought id upgrade the carb as well

all my bits ordered now :D ,ive left the carbs of the list for now until i decide what to go for,i dont want to go silly just have a little more power, should i be looking for twin or single?idealy a kit with manafolds as these are needed due to changing up from single to twin port

Twin Weber 34ict's are the way forward. I know Easy was running a single carb up until christmas but then bought the CB performance kit with the Webers and he's as happy as a pig in **** :D More horsepower and less fuel consumption makes him a happy boy. Depends what you want really as 36's are good too but obviously start getting a bit thirsty :D

Try CB performance in America. Ez got his from there and only paid about £285 including postage etc so saved himself at least £70. Arrived in three days too  This also meant he got CB's own stuff which is better than the Empi crap that's sent out by most peeps over here (I know 'cos i've got the Empi crap  )
Best thing to do is PM Easy and ask him for a contact email address/number.
Hope this helps 8)

thanxs for that m8y,ive had a look on the site and got em ordered£200 +postage so a rare bargain thanxs again youve saved me some pennies :D

i got 36 mebers £150 of a mate (mint straight of an alfa)
inlat manifolds/filters/linkage kit from speed shop£150
smile on my face when going up hill pricless (thats a future predition as they are still in the box of bits in the garage :)

Just bear in mind that Carbs off an Alfa will need rejetting. It could cost up to £60 for idles, mains, emulsion tubes & air correctors...

It is still a cheap option for good power gains.

Does anyone know if you have to pay import duty on vw stuff bought from the US? i know a friend bought some power tools from over there and ended up paying duty :?

Yea you always have to pay tax on stuff from abroad

Does depend though, as I buy loads of stuff and its not always taxed. Depends on the size of the item. If its marked up as a gift then you do not normally have to pay duty. :D

Thanks for that info, i suppose the total cost for a carb kit would be around £280 i expect, still extremely tempting though. I suppose i'd have to add another £50 to my insurance premium too, especially if they know i've got the drum brakes as well

I got some a pair of Dell'orto 34 FRDs from SoCal and they were £168 with shipping, was expecting to pay VAT on delivery and didn't. Chuffed.:D

One of these days i'll bite the bullet, but knowing my luck i'll buy some nice carbs and the engine will go pop, things like this seem to happen to me a lot
This lovely weather is great for road testing though

carbs arrived from cb in cali this morning and after import tax i saved about 50p
