as im having a few engine issues and now a new exhaust is on the way too.....i thought it was time that i tidyed up my engine a bit!

i have aquired a new fanhouse that is nice and straight buit i dont know what colour to detail it in an also the cylinder tins etc...
bearing in mind my bus is beryl (very light pistacio kind of green)

my thoughts are:

standard satin black
satin olive (army) green
beryl green
red

but then last night as i was sanding it back it kept going down to bare metal..... whick looks really cool!!!
so my fourth option is sand the whole thing down to bare metal.... but not polished, still with light sandpaper marks in it! and then clear laquer over the top.

please help me out here!

Standard satin black IMO :)

Understated and not too 'showy'. Always looks good with some nice ancillaries and neat wiring 8)

lets change this to a 'lets see your engines' thread!

cheers,
jp

actually I have to say.... just looked through a couple of engine threads on vzi and everyone does satin black.....
hmmmmmmm....?!?

My engine lid stays shut at shows for a reason ;)

Its one of my winter jobs though so next year it will be all good :)

Powder coat satin black for that nice finish, then add the pinstriping details you like (tiki etc in red) on the fan shroud. 8)

Check out the engine on the cover car of his months Volksworld, its awesome!

kermit dark green in gloss...dark enough not to look dirty and gloss so it can be easily wiped clean

yaeh, like the sound of that, sort of gloss olive green even with red pin striping?

Hi!

I say black with pinstripes in the beryl green and white, i did see a web site with really nice looking pinstripes in sticker format, ideal, as you wouldn't be that close underneath the engine to spot they were stickers. Can't find the link though...........
