Hi there. iv just had a 17.76 engine put in my 69 bay and it's brilliant ' but now I think the gearbox is letting it down . I'm look for something better for cruiseing . Just after some advice on what I should be looking to fit and were I can get one . hopefully someone can help . cheers Rich

I think your decimal place slipped :)
You should be looking for something like a freeway flyer or sending your box off to have a longer Crown and Pinion set installed. This is something I'm looking into. There is an option to fit a 1303s box but it requires a few mods, or one guy on here has fitted a Porsche 5 speed box.

I know I sound like a broken record  , but it really has made a huge difference to how comfortable my van is at higher speeds, even with a 1600. I can't wait to build a bigger engine to take full advantage of it :)

Freeway flyers have the same ratio's as a 6Rib later bay box.

I ran the same ratio's with my 1776cc and made a big difference over the stock 1600 box.

Also worth mentioning the larger a rear tyre you can running the bigger the rolling radius and this helps with gearing too.

Thanks for the info people. Still confused but starting to get my head round it . Cheers
