I have to sort my insurance valuation out within the next 2 weeks and could do with some feeback as to what I should state as the value.

For those who don't already know it's a 1969 Cal import SO69 Westfalia as per pics below.

The interior is 100% complete including original hamock, stool, fly net etc.... and the spice rack is now fitted. All internal wood has been replaced and flooring to the original specification.

Gene Berg locking shifter fitted and inside also has trip speedo, clock & factory fitted radio.

Exterior wise the van was resprayed in the original colour to a very good but not what i would class as a show standard and there are few ding's and knocks including some stone chip's on the front. Deluxe trim as shown in th pics.

Engine wise it's fitted with a 1600cc single port with stainless exhaust & NOS exchangers.

It's what I consider as a very good van with no issues that requires no work at this moment in time.

The reason i'm looking for advice is that there seem's to be an influx of import van's available going for cheap'ish prices, however not really been to many show's this year so not seen them in the flesh and don't want to compare against these or should I.

I looked at loads before I bought this one and walked from them as they were rotton in all the usual places.

Cheers

Mike

If its for the insurance then work it out by thinking what it would cost to replace all of it, including all your parts etc. With yours I dont think that if you asked for about £12000+ you would be far wrong

You can always go down so start high with what you ask for 8)

for insurance id be thinking how much would it take to replace... this ones a beauty. I would want at least 12-15K for it.

I agree with whats been said, some companies require a professional valuation over 10K which would be worth it . Its a real beauty :)

think johnny's valuation is about right £12k to £15k , looks very nice 8) how things are going with earlybays the values are going up 8) 8) 8)

I have just asked the same question of my own van , over in the for sale/wanted section, as i was horrified at what the insurers think its worth :(

Ive got to be Honest Kempy I think it ought to be in the £ 15K to £18K region . Now that may shock some and it will shock the insurance companies BUT if you had to replace it as a Total loss it would cost that much to replace it . And if we are unortunate to have a serious accident like Ands1 ( V sorry bout that dude ) then its not worth thinking about . Also ive just had the Gadget Bus valued at £18K :D

I'm with Gadget on this one.

Mine is valued at £12k and it is not in the condition of yours, it does have some expensive mods but no delux trim or trip speedo (yet). HIC and Footman James allow self valuation up to £15k.

Hi,

Noticed you have the van up for sale? Any reason why you are selling this loverly van? Are you negotiable on the price. Saw the van on dubs for sale.

I was trying to do this on the QT.
May not be up for sale long as been offered something else that has taken my fancy. It's an early but would need to sell mine to purchase the new one.

To be honest i'm not 100% certain i'm doing the right thing and would need to sell mine within the next 2 weeks at around the asking price to afford the other but that may go and if it does I shall be keeping the Westy.

Hi Mike,

Sorry if I have rumbled your sale. I like many of you constantly look at other website to see what is out there. Good luck with the sale and hope the other bus on offer is just as nice as this one.
