when is VZI back up? maybe we can get this topic shifted over there where it belongs! :p

VZI and Kamperchat still down,I wonder if they backed up all the data properly? Maybe once it's all back up people will have to start from zero again.

I think that is the concern. Apparently they werent backed up due to the cost, and it may be a 'ground zero' situation.

As far as I'm aware VZi not having back ups isn't due to costs. With a forum that size and with that much traffic it's just really difficult to keep back ups with out getting time out errors all the time.

There are 2 methods, backup and redundancy, back up would be nigh on impossible with VZI but not having redundancy  (raid mirrored drives on the server) for this size of site is/was crazy and now they are paying the price.

Hard discs are like car tyres, bad analogy i know, but they do wear out eventually, most are only guaranteed to last 5 years, so hardware failure is inevitable.
