So how does it work???
If a wheel is ET30 and I use 25mm thick adaptors, will the new offset be ET5 or ET55?
I have tried http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but it seems backwards somehow :?

Also, how wide a tyre could I fit to a 5.5j wheel?

Thanks.

Matt.

Using the spacer you're effectively reducing the offset. Therefore I think you'd end up with ET5.

Not sure about tyres - depends on the look you want (and also the type/make of tyre I think?). You could fit a 205 but it might look a little "balloony".

Found a couple of sites that may help to explain. The second link allows you to change the ET and see how the wheels looks.

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/offset/offset.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.morfed.net/wheel-offset-calculator/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope this helps everyone when lloking for new wheel and tyre combo's.

blondiedread, 5.5j wheels, i think you should be able to fit anything from 165 - 205 tyre's.

But don't quote me i'm no expert.

I have 205s on the rear (flared arch 71) on 5.5 wheels, effective offset is 25 -

ET45 wheels on 20mm adapters
