Which Dropped spindles?

I bought a pair of the Wagenswest spindles.

2.5" drop.
You can use speedo.
12mm offset.
Took approx 6 weeks.
Just over £300 including duties.

This leaves me enough for a new 1" narrowed ball joint beam from East coast slammers to compensate for the offset ( anyone had one of these? )

I know T2D do quality products but this is a significant price difference.

I fitted an East coast slammers beam yesterday, The quality is poor. No grease nipples,steering pin used, the bolts in the adjusters were USED WHEEL BOLTS with no nuts so there is no way of tightening the adjusters as they tighten in the springs before niping the adjuster! And as the wheel bolts are recessed they had 'hacked' a countersink into the adjusters!! I borrowed adjuster bolts from my Creative engineering beam which i have to say is a work of art! (long story why I havent used it...they sent me a narrowed instead of standard width beam and after 4 weeks of calls trying to get it changed I gave up) For sale if anyone is interested with narrowed tie rods :d

On the plus side the eastcoast slammers beam was with me within a week and half the price of the other beam.

I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldnt buy another one and will probaly be changing mine in the future once I can afford dropped spindles.

I've got T2D ones, good drop, no track increase. The only thing you need to do is chose the right tyre combo and fit good shocks, otherwise you'll be scraping the tyres or the beam!

Hi guys spoke to Transporterhaus earlier this week and was told:

£499.00 outright
£399.00 exchange

I believe the kit includes:

2 x machined spindles including balljoints
4 x trailing arms

Think they are also offering a 10% discount at the moment.

They look verey similar to theT2D ones, has anyone ever fitted them?

Now what about using disc brakes on the dropped spindles - is that possible, any preference of kit? I was really impressed with Gingers Buses brake kit - anyone know much about them?

i've seen other threads on vzi with problems with east coast slammers beams etc. all poor quality work, not fit for purpose, court summons, delayed refund, you name it.

the right thing to do bwutton' is to return that not fit for purpose beam to east coast wan'ers, and get your money back. if it's not too late, i.e fitted? persavear (spelling?) with creative and get your 'work of art' swopped for what you want.

you do get what you pay for, and the cheaper route often works out the most expensive?

I have already fitted the eastcoast beam and chopped it about to get it 'working' The shock mounts had no spacers welded so there was nothing to attatch them too...had to make spacers up. Phoned Creative engineering again today to have the beam swapped and will fit it in the future. I wont try to get refund from east coast slammers...seems just too much hard work. I will just spread the word to others!

Hi, I've got 165/55 15's, and shocks are GAZ adjustable - also available from VW Heritage (I got mine cheaper elsewhere, their catalogue says they price match, but I was told to buy the shocks at the cheaper price from the other supplier :roll: , so i did! :lol: )

i guess i depends on your wheel choice - i`d be using stock steels - the transporterhaus ones sound like a good deal - anyone tried them yet/seen the quality of them?

Your absolutely right! Stock wheels are quite generous and tuck in nicely. Narrowing will also firm up the springs a little as they are cut down a tad, also you get the 'narrowed' 'tucked' look, which is pretty damn cool 8)

speak to Scott Wilson both Peranporth and guessing the same unit he was at before moving, interesting though, you'd need to get confirmation on which ball joints they use, T2d price is basically as high as it is on account of the balljoint choice and the ammount invested in sourceing the right item, they had a number of surprises re the quality and build on so called pairs of ball joints, its unreal what differences can be between two ball joints ...... now T2d unsupprisingly wont tell you there supplier as its cost them silly money on RnD but Transporterhaus might then see if you can research the company and its build quality control......

The ball joints are stamped as I recall, so I guess with that information they can be sourced, I suppose that once you have a set from T2D you could replicate them, and that seems to be whats happened? The savings on R and D can be passed on immediately. I dont doubt that there will be a flood of similar products now as dropped spindles and more importantly long travel ball joints for bays have been 'wanted' for years and now here they are. Like everything, and as shown on this thread, you often do get what you pay for, so spend wisely

I bought my king+link 3.5inch dropped spindles from transporterhaus. after doing much research there name kept coming up, I have to say the service and quality is fantastic some other company’s could learn a from these.

Check thier site once a week. I know there almost done at the foundry and then of to the machinist. The are hoping for under $400.00. We will see.
