Hi...

I'm considering changing my wide 5 rear drums to narrow 5 late bay drums (so I can use adaptors to go to 5x130)..

Has anyone done this and know what is involved?? Is it wishful thinking to think you could swap one out for the other?

Aren't wide 5 spindles longer than narrow 5?

I see machine 7 have started doing 5x130 drums that are a direct swap out for the wide 5 drums, but you still have a very long spindle to accommodate... spacer perhaps could help with this.. probably get away with it as porka wheels are ET45....

help much appreciated here fellas and lasses!

t25 stub axles are shorter matey but depends on the rimmage you after

Quite likely to be SSP Fuchs if I go down the 5x130 road... It's getting the wheel in the right place so the centre cap sits flat on the wheel...

Ive got a complete set of 5x112 front brakes and rear hubs/drums with 5x130 adaptors fitted porsche bolts etc that I'm going to be getting rid of shortly, welcome to try them out if you want?

I did this recently - I swapped the hub spindle, the backing plate and the drums obviously. The hand brake was EB, as was the hub carrier and bearings

transporterhaus supposedly do a a rear kit, but :msn4: lets not mention that really as I think it involves a catering size can of worms I believe... :msn4:

the drums did peak my interest but man - expensive, and my teledials would probably rub on something in the rear....

I'm a little confused!! You swapped out wide 5 for T25 rear drums?

Could be a plan Loxy! Especially for the rear drums... What's the timescales you have in mind? I'm only down the road from you too!! Result!

They're sat in the barn doing nothing at the minute.....
Can bring them to work whenever really as I work in Oakdale, you can also look at my conversion I'm running now as well, got 944 hubs and disks on the front with wilwood 4 pot calipers and the CE redrilled drums and custom hub on the rear.

Yes please Loxy, bring them over next time it's convenient, I'll take them to my bus and have a good look at what to do next... Then I'll either buy them off you or give you them back... Sound like a plan?

think they were t25 drums yes, same as late bay...had to swap the backing plate, drums, cylinder and the brake shoes including the later connecting springs and levers etc...the handbrake cable was early bay....

some have swapped the rear hub carrier - but there's no need. I also 'adjusted' the brake cylinder, to be bolt on as opposed to bolting from the rear, ie drilled out the threads....
