So we had the van in to get all of the windscreen sill cut out and replaced and a new windscreen seal fitted. We've been blessed with this dry weather so haven't noticed anything until now but when we went to load up the van ready for our two week trip to Cornwall, all our lovely carpets are wet again and it seems to be leaking in. We spotted yesterday that one of the new washer jets hadn't been siliconed in and identified a leak from there. We fixed that and were hoping that was that but there seems to be more water getting in somewhere behind the washer motor. We've checked the washer spindles and the jets and they seem to be dry so we can't identify exactly where the water is getting in. Needless to say we are gutted as we're off for a long anticipated and planned two week trip to Cornwall and we don't have time to get the van back to where we had the work done for them to look at it.

Help! [emoji25]

The washer jets don't need to be siliconed, they should seal by themselves.
Either find a local windscreen fitter and get them to use a mastic based sealer under the windscreen rubber, or do it yourself, that should cure the leak.

I would let the original workshop know of your issue though.

We have done. They're adamant that there were no leaks when it left but it was only 2 months ago. Is mastic sealant the black stuff? We were thinking of peeling back the seal and just putting something down there. We're reluctant to have the windscreen removed as we don't want to jeapordise our holiday. :(

Yes, use the rubberised black mastic as it doesn't go hard. Go all around the screen as water will track to any gap/hole using capillary action.
We haven't had any rain for two months, so they obviously didn't put a hose on the screen to check for leaks.

The seal was pretty tight to the window so not enough room to get a nozzle in really. We've flooded it with several applications of captain tolleys creeping crack cure and it seems to have fixed it 🤞🏻

Not very happy at having paid a lot of money to have it 'fixed' and have it still leak on us though. Very disheartening.

Onwards and downwards to Cornwall soon then so hope it stays fixed this time!

Twice in the past I have had to take the windscreen out of our 71, both times refitted with new rubbers. Both times had a massive leak on the left side of the screen which flooded the relays under the fuse box. However, on both occasions after driving around for a couple of days, the screen must have settled in the seal and no more leaks.

I've been there as well, after a full resto and new screen with German rubbers it was leaking, I found a windscreen repair place that claimed to specialise in classic and took it along to them. They ran black mastic all under the rubber between body and screen and it's fine ever since.
This place was in Guildford so not much help to you.

Problem is, when you repair the area around your windscreen the chances of getting bang on are slim and they do tend to leak!
