Windscreen repair panels

Evening all,
Having recently found that the lower edge of my screen (the edge the rubber seal sits over) was rusting away…

I bought a replacement panel…


This panel seems a bit OTT for this fix.
Have I bought the right thing?
Should I have bought a different, smaller section?
Anything else I should have bought? Is there a metal panel that makes that bottom screen edge from the inside maybe?
