Hi,
I have spent many, many hours welding and spraying a tailgate for my 1972 camper only to find that the holes in the tailgate that the hinge bolts screw into are in the wrong place (too high). Am I right in assuming that there are two different types of tailgate and I've got the wrong one?

If so, is there anyway of getting the one I have to fit (changing the hinges maybe?). Like I said, I've spent bloody ages getting this panel rust free and sprayed up so I am more than a little hacked off.....

unfortunately you have found one of the many '72 crossover differences :(
the lock/catch mechanism is also crossover part, so if you find a tailgate make sure its there

yep ....door , mechanism, handle all crossover only......lock barrel the same as other locks
so you can use your old key...did you keep the bits off your old door?
