Rock and Roll beds

Hello all,
Looking to buy a R&R bed for my bay..... Has anyone got experience of the adjustable width one from Just Kampers? I've requested one from rusty Lee but they're delayed by over a month and I want to process the build so I'm looking at alternatives. Any other metal frame ones around?

There's a reason why Rusty Lee beds have a waiting list, they're just better quality.

I’ve got a Rusty Lee bed in mine and it’s been there over ten years and isn’t showing any signs of not being comfortable for the foreseeable future.

Ive got a used 3/4 one for sale in Bolton (Its not a Rusty Lee one), came out of a bay and has cushions with it, needs some feet brackets but thats it.

I bought the one from CIP and it is imported so it may be the adjustable one from JK. That is a piece of crap, I have worked with mine to make it fit, but it has been a POS from day one. Even now with wood and upholstery on it, it is still not solid when you sit on it, the seat base doesn’t lock into place like it should, the seat back angle is wrong, it’s just a pile of junk. And CIP won’t take them back once it’s been assembled, and you don’t find out it bad until you assemble it

I give the up vote for Rusty Lee. I’ve had mine for some time great bit of kit and easy to fit.

Had a full width Rusty Lee for 8yrs. Lee powder coated ours white to suit our interior

Just discovered this thread as I had a similar question. How did you get on with the Rusty Lee? Is it easy enough to fit and pretty solid once the wood and cushions are on?

I’m using the original bed that rests on the table atm. It’s okay but a bit of a faff.

I’ve had a Rusty Lee bed for over ten years now. I organised it through Delilahs upholstery peeps that you’ll see on here quite a bit . They organised getting the bed, sorting the foam, upholstering the whole shooting match and my front seats covers and door cards too and as anybody that’s seen my bus will tell you it’s a bit of a pickle but the upholstery is bang on still and it’s always been comfy. I’ve got fabric seat and bed base covers with vinyl edges and the same on my cards. Sleeping on breathable fabric is a lot nicer than vinyl or leather especially if you’re a larger person.

Perfect. That’s the info I was looking for.
Rusty Lee seems to be the one to get. And the original rock and roll bed so they’ve been making them a long time!
Just checked out Delilah’s upholstery. Looks ace. They have a little deal going on atm if you get the whole package through them.

All I need to do now is decide on fabric type and colour.
The more options there are.. the harder it is to choose

Rusty Lee full width in mine too - simple enough to fit myself and plenty comfy to sleep on and well made. I have to sleep on the diagonal or my feet stick off the end though!
Consider a buddy seat for the other side as well - Rusty Lee do them also.

Nice! Looking fresh in there! Mine looks nothing like that atm

Still got the original interior which I’ll be replacing or modifying. Is that sacrilegious?
It’s just not up to the standard I’ll be needing. It’s the same as the one in the photo. (Not my bus. Picture from the internet)

If yours is an original Dormy then it would be nice to keep it if its in good shape as they are quite different from everything else. That said its your van and your rules and whatever suits your needs.....

Yea all original and working and to be fair, it’s in good condition . Just needs the trim redoing and a little clean up.
I feel like I should keep it that way. I just popped out and took some pictures of mine.

If I do end up changing it, I’ll definitely dismantle carefully and keep the original.

Mine was trashed and home made when I bought it so wasn’t too bothered about keeping any of it!
