i use one all the time.....threw the copper washer out years ago...works fine for me..1970 B code engine.

mine fell out under the vehicle as the pipe came off from the master cyclinder, its push fit and held in place with rubber sleeve only available from Heritage. 3 quid it is... it depends on the year of your vehicle as to what you have linking the resevoir inside the cab to your master cyclinder...

clean the engine up with gunk...get it shiny and then run it up to see where the oil is coming from.

maybe try a shim or 2/3 and see if you can get the belt a little higher on the top pulley...

i run a chrome alternator on chrome top pulley and og bottom.... when i set it up originally, I left all the spacers out and got the metallic grumbling sound you might be describing....which i found to be a lack of shims. can you twist the belt thru 90 degrees (stopped obviously)?
