it's looking great, it'll be fun to watch the interior come together

Hi!

If you are using mdf, maybe paint it all over with a watery mix of pva glue to seal the board and help stop water ingress. Also will make the fablon stick easier too, as mdf is quite dusty....and it will dry clear too! :D

Cheers!

was going to use the sticky vinyl fablon stuff with the original pattern or a different wood colour

I'd go for the original pattern myself!

But, whatever you choose, I know it will look good

ive actually got some mdf sealer which looks like water pva and probably is :)

found my jigsaw after searching for hours and made good use of it,

cut the doors out of the front

first one
28.jpg

and the rest
29.jpg

then the cut outs for some sounds - only 10" subs but powerful :) (i like my tunes)
30.jpg

i then offered it up to the rest of the unit to see how the fit was and its spot on and the upper shelf is now fully opened up so you dont have to open one or the other door to get to either half
31.jpg

i the dug out my router again and started on the tops of the unit and used a basic edge but its cool
32.jpg

the side of the fridge glued and nailed
33.jpg

both tops of the sink and other bit
34.jpg

nice edging again :)
35.jpg

decided to do the other side of the fridge bit aswell with the router
36.jpg

and finally the fridge top
37.jpg

well after my daft decision to put that loft insulation in i ripped it out but never replaced it with anything so i went to focus and got some thermawrap as it was on offer and did the panels again

38.jpg

39.jpg

40.jpg

i also have done the floor so i marked out and cut in the right places nad then stuck it down, remembering to cut holes for the waste pipes etc
41.jpg

then the floorbase went down, only used 3mm as i dont want everything to high
42.jpg

and the unit back in temporarily to test fit and work out the rear bed base as the units have increased in size by 18mm i have to work out the seat base and seat back bar go in the right places
43.jpg

that is a sweet touch with the subs! the van is really looking good now.when is your target finish date?

Great work, like what your doing on the interior pulling off the fron panel and putting a new stamp on it but keeping the dormy theme going. How you gonna finnish off the MDF?

cheers guys :) to be honest not really thought of a finsh date as it keeps moving due to extra bits i find and want to change etc and as for the finish on the mdf i think ill seal if with mdf sealer then paint itm nice and simple and easy to touch up when it gets abused :)

finally got the rear bed base made up, took a while to get the height right due to the increase with the new tops on the coolbox area, here it is loosely fitted with the area that has the little storage area

44.jpg

45.jpg

and i made the top for the storage area and ran a router round it
46.jpg

mock fit up
47.jpg

and with the seat back and rear bed, you feel very closed in lying on these being so high hehe i get the feeling im gonna bang my head more than once
48.jpg

i also put some filler in the screw holes and smoothed them off, woodwork aint my thing so doing the best i can :)

Try putting your feet down that end instead. Heard that's what you're meant to do in a Dormobile.

Correct, but not the rule (if you like banging your head that is ;) )

Looking very good - keep the pics coming as inspirational so far 8)

on saturday i borrowed my dad for an hour or so again to use his fibreglass engineer skills :) to repair the cool box,

we sorted out how much fibreglass we would need then my dad started mixing the resin and activator and then went to work on it
51.jpg

52.jpg

53.jpg

54.jpg

and i also painted front of furniture to see how it looks and it looks evil :D

You're kidding, right?
I feel (and I'm sure I don't stand alone here) you're pretty skilled in just about everything you did to this lucky bay. I hope I can make mine look as good as yours.
OK, enough ass-kissing
Keep it up and most importantly keep those pics coming!!!

cheers for the compliment dude, i am honestly not very good at woodwork, i mean i should really have taken the time and screwed from the other side so didnt need to screw throught the front and my routing and jigsawing are never 100% str8, i think i need a circular saw :)

ok had quite a productive day today, got the rear interior carpet down and looking nice
56.jpg

fitted and stuck into place
57.jpg

then the lino flooring went down and looks pretty cool just need something to finish the door edging
58.jpg

then put the rear bed base back together and then i used trial and error to get the rear seat bar in place to get a decent sliding action over the coolbox due to the 18mm height difference i created with the furniture
59.jpg

60.jpg

finally i cut out the lower seat base to fit the 6x9's and the LEDs
61.jpg

the wiring for the LEDS and speakers has been partially fitted with the amp screwed into place under the rear seat

Mmmmmmm, my wood work skills aren't that great, I wonder if mine will look like this?

Excellent work matey!

been a few days since my last update but it mainly been interior bits and tweaking stuff here and there.
this is the seat fully held in place and the seating angle isnt to bad and very comfy
62.jpg

and with the seat in sleep mode :), just got to make a table now
63.jpg

i also made a start on the door cards and thought id use the dandy rather than the beano, ive stood them upright to start and then ill slap some over the top aferwards so its not to linear the edges are jagged but im not after using scissors would look to prepared
64.jpg

and i had to put the dormobile reg plate back on
65.jpg

ive also made a start on the roof due to the lovely weather we have had over past few days, so far i spent ages stripping the roof completely removing all the rusty scews and bolts
813.jpg

and heres the stuff that needs tarting up and replacing apart from the iron brew, i had that sharpish
