Hi guys

Just fitted a set of 36drla carbs.

First time I have fitted twin carbs to a Aircooled VW !

I have had them set up but has soon as you floor it has a huge flat spot.

Then you get it higher in the revs it pulls well.

It's a 1600 with a VS exhaust. I pulled the jets today and these are the numbers

Main 112
Air 180
Idles 55
Pump 33

Do these sound good for a 1600 or would you guys set it up differently?

Alan

Need to know your Venturi size to determine your main jet, should be a 28 on a 1600, for those mains jets.
Are they giving a good squirt down all the chokes when throttle arm is pulled ?
Maybe the accelerator pump diaphragms are split if not..
Is it popping ?
Could be a blocked idle jet, or too small.( I would go 58 or 60 idles .)
You can get them out without removing carbs with a mirror and needle nose pliers to lift em out. Mine have plugged loads of times. Can of compressed air is handy !
I'm sure the idles work till about 2500 rpm then mains kick in.
Buy the dellorto book by bob Tomlinson, its superb for fault finding and info

I take it the only way to find out the venturi size is to remove the carb top?
