Vans going in for a gearbox swap in a week, so have been waiting until then to clean my tank. It's driving me f*cking mad!!!!
 
While i'm still awaiting the outcome of the 091 gearbox strip down and the delievery of a newish fuel tank ( thanks mr G :D :D ).....

I thought i would start to remove the "tiger stripes/old respary" off the van. :roll: :roll: :roll:

I took me over 3 hours to very slowly remove the old paint. Only managed to get the o/s rear 1/4 panel and half the rear door done.
At this rate it's going to take me a few months to get all the old paint off :cry: :cry: :oops: :oops:

Anyone got any tips on removing a sh*t US respray :?: :x

Had a break for trying to remove the paint :roll: :roll:

Picked up my 2lt 091 gearbox from being reconditioned. Needed a couple gears and bearings and i lick of paint :D :D

Oven cleaner and 0000 steel wool,
 
It's been a long time coming but the 091 2lt gearbox went in yesterday and out went the f*ck fuel tank.

Very soild i'm please to report.

Van runs sooooooo much better with the new longer 4th gear. It drives like a different van :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
 
vans been back to the rolling road today :( :(
With the petrol contamtination sorted with the new tank and lines etc, it just need a few adjustment ready for a hols :D :D :D

It got an even better "power run" 4500rpm and 78bhp and 80 mph :shock: :shock: :shock:

I flatted all the ****** US resprays off my splitty with a sander & 400 grit then wet with 800 grit, then laquered it all, ball ache of a job like!!!
