I'm in need of some quick advice as I may be calling in to see some 15 x 6J cookie cutters someone has for sale...

BUT I've had a quick scan on here and Vzi and it appears they are a pain to fit, or impossible...

so will they fit an early bay - I appreciate I will need adapters but I read the 6J are 36ET so wouldn't work with adapters?

I have 112pcd discs on the front and 205pcd on the back but can get 112 [late drums] on the back too if works better?

please help the google search is doing my biscuit in.......

D

I have 15x6j cookies fitted to my 72 (so 5x112 all round) with 25mm adaptors. You will need to cut down the wheel nuts a little as the cookies dont have cutouts in the mounting face like a lot of porsche alloys do (the nut head protruding out of the adapter fits in the cutout allowing the wheel to bolt up straight).

I am planning on either going narrowed beam and or porsche brakes up front as they do widen the track a little.

oh **** yeah lol sorry its been a long day.

right I'm awake now, if I remember correctly, cookie cutters dont have the ET stamped on them, although they do come in different offsets. I think you may have to get the ruler out.

I thought all the 6s were the same offset, as axl says though they aren't stamped with the et. If they are 7s then they are going to be really hard work to fit....

thanks guys - these are supposed to be 6" ones - set of 4

at least they might fit then - I narrowed my front beam specifically to cater for fashion and weird offset wheels........

so is that a yes then Loxy - yours are all 6"??
how much were the adapters?

PS got any pics Loxy?

Yes mine are 6j all round and fit, there are some old pics here:

Should help show the problem with the adapters at least, you need to remove 2-3mm off the nuts and studs.
Will try to remember to take some "now" pics later.

I think you will also need to stick to a 185/65/15 tyre or narrower at the rear or it will get a bit close to the arch, esp. as mine are flared and yours arent ;)

I would eventually like to get rid of the adapters at the rear as well as the front, either by a rear disk conversion or redrilled drums/hubs.

EDIT: Got the adapters from "Butty" on VZi, think they were £125 including porsche bolts, a lot of people get them from him & have had good service.

Thanks Loxy - I've had stuff off Butty before and yes very quick and will adjust stuff for you if needed...

I tried and failed to find any pics of yours with tyres and on the deck? it does help - the chap didn't give me a number so couldn't arrange to see them today!

cheers

Darren

Hope that helps ;)

it does thanks - the rears look tight [as you said] so on my 68 it'll be possibly too close..........mmm...trying to get a less seen rim on my bus but that may now not be cookies.....

mmm back to the drawing board maybe.....perhaps teledials are the way forward?

shame as I really like the Cookie cutters.

Bear in mind I have a 25mm spacer on the rears, is a wide 5 to 5x130 adapter thinner than that? or you could go with the creative 5x130 pcd hubs/drums but they aren't cheap.

I fancy cookie cutters on mine and from what i ca find (on some clssic porsche forum) all 6" cookies are et23 so with 20mm adapters (most use home made) they will fit.

On a side note how much are you getingem for, all the ones i find on ebay are 7's and no good to me, Find the odd set of 6's but get out bid.

One day i will winn a set :D

7" Cookies are ET23.

6" Cookies are ET36, not 23!!

What you need are the elusive 5.5J Cookie cutters (ET42)!!

;)

For the rear, you could always redrill the 130 PCD on the late bus 112PCD hubs.... You need to rotate the bolt spacing (20º or so?) so one of the studs doesn't intersect with the notch that is in the hub.... Then elongate the holes in the drums to suit... Plenty of room to do it so I have been told.

what about merc wheels - what fits ? as I have seen some older style 15" alloys but worried the ET will be wrong again - I do know the holes may need drilling out to 14mm and having to use different radius nuts - all the bays I have seen them on are not lowered??

I ran 16x7.5 (47ET) Merc Steelies on my last low-light (with late brakes).... With 205-55's and 225-50's front and rear..... None narrowed beam and all.... Bolted straight on.... No mods what so ever.... Drove beautifully.

any more info on merc wheels anyone?

there doesn't seem to be many uk lowlights with them so I'm guessing there's a reason for that [might be the 205 pcd ?? in the main? ], but there aren't many late bays either - some t25's and the et looks all wrong on those??

the pcd works with late bay pattern, which I have on one axle, the ET tends to be 37-41 - so again very similar to bay std.....there is a catch here, something I'm missing...is it simply that merc alloys tend to be modern and **** looking?
