It’s 12 years since I had my van restored and lately it’s been a bit porous around the windscreen, and here’s why

On holiday this summer, the headlight relay shorted, leaving them on full beam which drained the battery, now the power steering is temperamental thought to be due to the speed sensor getting damp…,,,,,,,,,,so I’ve dropped the van off with James to chop, weld new metal and touch up the screen surround. Will also put in new Schofield seal and laminated screen, pics when done

When you get your new laminated screen in, you’ll be able to wear Polaroid sun glasses without going cross eyed.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, just don’t lookin the mirror :)

So James has worked his magic, cut out the top of the outer panel all the way across, did a small repair on the inner panel, grafted on new metal cut from a Schofield best front panel, painted it with beryl green to match and resprayed the dash top for good measure; new screen and rubber fitted by local windscreen fitters, oh and he serviced it and got a new MOT, good to go for another year

That turned out very well.
Reassuring to see, its a worry i have for when the time comes to tackle the small blisters appearing at the base of ours, from a badly fitting windscreen seal letting water get trapped in.

Ditto. I'm currently looking to purchase, but everything I see in my budget, has some corrosion, and most of them have some around the windscreen, good to see it doesn't always need a new front panel.

How's the rest of the van holding up after 12 years?

Been a busy couple of days, last evening it was the annual Xmas paddle at my canoe club, used the van’s gas rings to heat up mulled wine for 30 odd paddlers

Which we then put in canoes, paddled across the Thames, beaching by the Hilton opp Canary Wharf where we drank it, ate mince pies and sang silly Xmas songs

Then today, drove up to Cambs and picked up a sofa

And dropped into T2D as they were 15mins away, had a coffee and bought a couple of their Bilsten shocks
