pics of a van we hoped to be in but luckily we got our money back from the ¬restorer¬/workshop who did the work you see in the pics.
south african import and was told it would be "no problem " to do the work that was agreed.
put our old westy roof onto it, bare metal respray it, sorting any rust issues wneh bare metalled. then put our bits and interior from our 1972 westy onto/into the new body.
problems arose when the man responsible ,a vw specialist...discovered that some 72 bits dont fit a 70/71 ??in our opinion this messed up his quote to us ....it had already gone to the top end of the original figure but instead of talking to us it all went pear shaped and we paid more money , it took longer, there were many problems fitting bits we asked for, some of our donor parts apparently never went up to the workshop, even some of the bits photgraphed on the shell in south africa did not make it to the workshop....or rather did not make it onto our van .
end result/....we had over a year of van less fun, picked the van up in january this year and have just this week had our money back plus money for the bits and pieces on the van, ...engine ,gerabox, exhaust, interior, etc.etc.
this leaves the man with the van and we hope that he does the job properly before someone else buys it with the faults and failings we found...after you see the pics of some of the works you can make you own mind up.
neptune blue /white westy roof....did have a continental interior,so unusual for a low light. reg vod311j
