I have taken off the cover plate off the alternator and have put it back on ok but I noticed a gap which I don’t know if it should be there or not.
Any one can verify this is ok [emoji108]
You can see it best where one of the three screws attaches it to the main body of the alt.

Should have added it’s a Bosch alternator for reference. If anyone’s got the same and could have a quick look for me [emoji3]

Hi Mike, having stripped my new Bosch down recently, I can confirm that this is correct. You cannot see the mating face until you pull it apart, but it all becomes clear then!

Thanks a lot for that, I cleaned and lightly oiled the mount for the cover plate and carefully tapped it on. Did up the three screws and put fan belt on. Then noticed this gap which raised a doubt in my mind.
I took it off to make a small repair and paint it.
